I recently purchased this beautiful print from peachpatrol on etsy.

Located in Australia, there was a bit of a wait for the post to get it together and get this to me.

I was almost breathless with anticipation. I was so excited for it.

When it arrived last week, it surpassed ALL expectations.

SO SO SO amazingly beautiful in person! Lovely little extras included in the package.

I cannot wait to get this matted and framed.

Also: I will definitely be ordering more prints. I just have to choose.

I’m a bit of an art hoarder. I’m so grateful for prints–since my budget doesn’t allow for originals (yet).

We’re re-doing our living room, and I plan to pretty much have ALL the walls covered in art. You better believe this lovely lady will have a place of honor.

Because, I’ve always thought she was beautiful.

I often times had to fight people on that.

I love freckles and gingers.

I might be biased….

She plays her roles with such a beautiful balance of fragility and strength.

She’s so petite, you feel like you could crush her with just a look.

Maybe part of my love is bound up in the 70s–being a child of the 70s (well, really more a child of the 80s), I guess I have nostalgia automatically built into my ideas of her.

That, and the whole “Carrie” thing…..I mean, girlfriend kicked some ass.

I was *this close* to being named Carrie, but my father put the stop to it, worrying that I’d get made fun of, due to the film.

I love-love-love her in “Blast from the Past”. I think I’d be her in that situation.

Though I’d most likely be much more vocal and poorly dressed…

This slinky number was made specifically for a photo shoot.

I have to admit, it’s a little sexier than I normally go for.

I’m kind of a costume nerdy girl…..more Helena Bonham Carter in regular life than Victoria Beckham.

So, I went back and forth and back and forth and back and forth on the neckline.

I did compromise a wee bit–the original idea was for it to be cut to the navel….

I used the dress in my RAW runway show, too.

And, WOWZA, Mary brought that baby to LIFE.

I recently listed it in the shop. (yes, it’s been cleaned)

The belt is part of the sale–it’s actually made from a re-purposed leather purse strap.

I hope to make more of these in other colors and fabrics.

This week I’m featuring an item that was out of stock for quite some time–and also happens to be one of my best sellers.

My velveteen capelets are, if I do say so myself, rather fabulous.

My solid version was featured on brides.com a couple of years ago, and I still get traffic from the site.

These were unavailable for awhile. I’ve recently re-listed them as custom/made to order options. Not sure why this didn’t occur to me sooner.

This one is customize-able in color and trim options.

A lot of brides have ordered these. I love learning what people are wearing my creations for–and I love getting pictures even more! 😉

I initially created these as part of my Little Red Riding Hood costumes, but had so many requests for just the capelet that I went ahead and started making them a separate option.

Rest and Relaxation

Kicking the week off with a 4am wake up call has inspired within me a fierce desire to lay about in a sunshiney meadow. Lazy fuzzy bumbling bumble bees bumping from flower to flower, dragonflies perching on my toe to see what I’m up to. The sun warming my face, a good book to keep me company.

Happy 4th of July!

I’m celebrating by working. 😉 Gotta grab the time when you can.

I’m cutting out a pretty cool costume, actually. I have the awesome task of making this costume:

Into a women’s version! So cool!

Blueberries were out this week at my grandfathers–yum! I froze these babies, and have been nibbling on them periodically, savoring and saving them as long as possible.

Some leggings went out early this week.

Over the past weekend I got the urge to paint–I do this every once in awhile.

I’m never as happy with the outcome as I want to be, but I love the process.

I have a whole haunted theme going, and a few paintings to complete. Two are in various stages of completion right now, none are completely done.

I reorganized my pens/pencils/markers. I’m a little too pleased by it.

Hope you’re enjoying a lovely day off. If only a BBQ were in my future….sadly, the husband was called out to a job yesterday and will most likely be gone through the weekend. And the kitties don’t grill.

Marilyn

I know, obvious, right?

But, sometimes you just need to state it.

We all know she got kind of a bum rap.

She got labeled the bombshell (and, let’s be fair–she played the role) and, when she wanted to bust out of it, she really couldn’t.

I always just want to give her a big hug when I see her on screen.

Just a big hug and a whisper in her ear to run in the opposite direction that she was headed in.

I wish her stage work was available to see. Is it? Am I missing something?

Ohhhh, how wonderful it would be to see that.

Everything I’ve read and heard points to the fact that she gave her best performances on stage, in classes.

Regardless, she’s beautiful. I always prefer the un-made-up Marilyn. The fresh faced Marilyn. The Marilyn that wasn’t being Marilyn. The peek at Norma.

I’m featuring one of my all-time favorite type of shirts for today’s Trapped In Time Tuesday.

It also happens to be in one of my all-time favorite prints.

(I had to make myself a shirt in the same print, fyi)

It’s a simple cropped cowl neck shirt with long, full sleeves.

I like to layer, so this speaks directly to my fashion aesthetic.

These images with the model are actually from my first-ever (rather impromptu) shoot–and where I happened to meet the amazing photographer, Britt of Underexposed Photography.

We were actually doing a trunk show (with lackluster sales), and still joke today that the best thing that came out of that day was our meeting each other, as well as a couple of models that we’ve worked with a number of times since.
