TnT Tuesday

This week I’m featuring an item that was out of stock for quite some time–and also happens to be one of my best sellers.

redheart1

My velveteen capelets are, if I do say so myself, rather fabulous.

My solid version was featured on brides.com a couple of years ago, and I still get traffic from the site.

redheart3

These were unavailable for awhile.  I’ve recently re-listed them as custom/made to order options.  Not sure why this didn’t occur to me sooner.

This one is customize-able in color and trim options.

redheart2

A lot of brides have ordered these.  I love learning what people are wearing my creations for–and I love getting pictures even more! 😉

I initially created these as part of my Little Red Riding Hood costumes, but had so many requests for just the capelet that I went ahead and started making them a separate option.

redheart4

The inside of my serger in always filled with red fluff from these.  Always.

Rest and Relaxation

Kicking the week off with a 4am wake up call has inspired within me a fierce desire to lay about in a sunshiney meadow.  Lazy fuzzy bumbling bumble bees bumping from flower to flower, dragonflies perching on my toe to see what I’m up to.  The sun warming my face, a good book to keep me company.

This Week

Happy 4th of July!

4th

I’m celebrating by working. 😉  Gotta grab the time when you can.

I’m cutting out a pretty cool costume, actually.  I have the awesome task of making this costume:

docwho1

Into a women’s version!  So cool!

docwho

Blueberries were out this week at my grandfathers–yum!  I froze these babies, and have been nibbling on them periodically, savoring and saving them as long as possible.

DSCN9139

Some leggings went out early this week.

DSCN9142

Over the past weekend I got the urge to paint–I do this every once in awhile.

DSCN9153

I’m never as happy with the outcome as I want to be, but I love the process.

I have a whole haunted theme going, and a few paintings to complete.  Two are in various stages of completion right now, none are completely done.

DSCN9151

I reorganized my pens/pencils/markers.  I’m a little too pleased by it.

DSCN9158

Hope you’re enjoying a lovely day off.  If only a BBQ were in my future….sadly, the husband was called out to a job yesterday and will most likely be gone through the weekend.  And the kitties don’t grill.

Marilyn

marilyn

I know, obvious, right?

marilyneight

But, sometimes you just need to state it.

marilynfive

We all know she got kind of a bum rap.

marilynfour

She got labeled the bombshell (and, let’s be fair–she played the role) and, when she wanted to bust out of it, she really couldn’t.

marilynnine

I always just want to give her a big hug when I see her on screen.

marilynsix

Just a big hug and a whisper in her ear to run in the opposite direction that she was headed in.

American Masters: Marilyn Monroe

I wish her stage work was available to see. Is it?  Am I missing something?

marilynten

Ohhhh, how wonderful it would be to see that.

marilynthree

Everything I’ve read and heard points to the fact that she gave her best performances on stage, in classes.

marilynseven

Regardless, she’s beautiful.  I always prefer the un-made-up Marilyn.  The fresh faced Marilyn.  The Marilyn that wasn’t being Marilyn.  The peek at Norma.

TnT Tuesday

I’m featuring one of my all-time favorite type of shirts for today’s Trapped In Time Tuesday.

4500altered

It also happens to be in one of my all-time favorite prints.

_MG_4509

(I had to make myself a shirt in the same print, fyi)

cropfive

It’s a simple cropped cowl neck shirt with long, full sleeves.

4513altered

I like to layer, so this speaks directly to my fashion aesthetic.

_MG_4505

These images with the model are actually from my first-ever (rather impromptu) shoot–and where I happened to meet the amazing photographer, Britt of Underexposed Photography.

4495altered

We were actually doing a trunk show (with lackluster sales), and still joke today that the best thing that came out of that day was our meeting each other, as well as a couple of models that we’ve worked with a number of times since.

You can find the shirt in my shop here:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/94807216/shirt-womens-shirt-cowl-neck-jersey?ref=shop_home_active

Dance

The first couple of images from the dance photo shoot have been released–they’re AMAZING!  (you might remember my posts about making the costume for this from about a month ago)

Breathtaking, right?

These beautiful images inspired today’s post.  I’ve always been fascinated by ballet.  I wanted to be a ballerina, of course, when a child.  Sadly, my talents did not lie in that arena.  Happily, I can feast my eyes on the beauty that is ballet anytime I so choose.

Visitors

Been away the last week as my fabulous little sister and her boyfriend have been visiting.  Great times were had, sadly they had to end today, and my house is a wee bit quiet as I sit here.  Back to the grind, and lists, and sewing.

But first, a glimpse at a couple of our adventures!  It’s always fun to have visitors–it gives you an excuse to play tourist in your own state!

Among the many things we did, our favorites were:

Kliebert’s Turtle and Alligator Farm (“Swamp People” fans may recognize this spot):  http://www.kliebertgatortours.com/Home.html

This tour was AMAZING and so fun!  Great place–and only an hour drive from my house.  Our guide was informative and funny, the tour was fabulous, and we had a blast.  If you find yourself in southern Louisiana, I HIGHLY recommend this tour–for only $12, it was a steal.  Everyone on the tour had a blast–kids and adults alike.

Abita Mystery House:  http://ucmmuseum.com/

I’ve wanted to hit this place up for years, but never did.  It’s crazy–no, really–it’s CRAZY.  I mean, I love it, but it’s insane.  There’s a little bit of everything here.  I fell madly in love with all the vintage paint by number paintings, but sadly none were for sale.  Trust me–I would have come home with a boat load if they had been.  DEFINITELY worth the $3 to tour.  If you like “Hoarders”, thrift store shopping & folk art, this is THE place.

TnT Tuesday

I am happy to report that I now have a shop on etsy (which you already knew about, of course) AND on rebelsmarket.  Check it out:  http://www.rebelsmarket.com/rebelsbooth/trapped-in-time-designs

As of now I just have custom/made to order items up over there–testing the waters.

I’ll keep my etsy shop around, of course, but rebelsmarket seems like a good venue, and allows me to reach a new market.

On that note, today’s feature is up for purchase in either shop–Black and White Striped Leggings:

legone

I offer these in both a full and capri length.

shortone

They’ve been pretty popular, and I have a stack of new material to try out–a narrower stripe in black and white as well as a red and white stripe.

legthree

I’ll get some made some day….you know, when I get all those extra hours I need?

shortthree

You can find the leggings in either of my shops:

Friday Favorite

Changing it up a bit this Friday and bringing you an awesome band instead of a physical item that is a favorite.

It’s almost the weekend, so I’m bringing you a booty shaker in celebration!

magnoliathree

So, I give you Magnolia Sons’ “Baby That’s You”:  http://youtu.be/0NYqB1Gixrk

I came across this band on another blog–and, wow, I really wish I remember which one, because I’d love to say “thanks”.  I am absolutely in love with this song, and this band, really.

magnolia

Seems they’re still on the small side, and are in the Nashville area primarily.  I’m really hoping they have plans to tour a little more to the south…..ideally my neck of the woods.
