I can’t believe Mardi Gras is next week. Already!
In honor of the impending (and ongoing) festivities, some images from the recent (and thematically appropriate) shoot.
I’m rolling out the Trapped In Time Tuesday feature again, folks. Since it’s officially carnival time in these parts, I figured what better way to start than with a Mardi Gras accessory.
This is a tulle boa, made from strips of tulle that I cut and sewed individually to a sturdy center strip.
It has layers and layers of tulle sewn on both sides and is pretty fabulous, if I do say so myself.
You can find it in the etsy shop here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/127893659/boa-mardi-gras-boa-mardi-gras?ref=shop_home_active_7

New in the shop over the weekend:
The bustles are all being offered on a made-to-order basis, too.
I’m trying to beef up the shop in between orders. I have a whole stack of things that are ready to be sewn up, and I try to add to it every weekend, as well as subtract from it (ie: sew things up) every week. Problems only arise when I’ve fallen out of love with whatever idea I had had when I cut whatever-it-is out. Then….well, then it goes to the bottom of the stack.
Cutting, Sewing, Book-Keeping.
It’s cold. Again.
Overcast. Again.
Makes me want to snuggle on the couch with the kitties and play Skyrim.
Instead, I will cut out the latest orders and listen to some audio books.
Stay warm, folks. Looks like a lot of the country is in for some more beautiful winter weather. Ugh.
This is the last “post pictures and leave immediately” post for a little while, promise. The last of the images from the recent shoot:

Much photographing, editing and listing was done over the weekend.
Probably my least favorite, but most essential, part of the job.
A lot of these items are available made to order, too.
There’s still more to photograph and list.
But they’ll have to wait until next weekend.
Slowly working through the stack of ready-to-list items.
They build up quickly!
You can find any of these in the shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TrappedInTimeDesigns
Happy Monday!
I’ve been working on a custom full costume order.
I actually *gasp* made a mock-up for this one. I’m combining a few existing (highly altered) patterns, and draping a few of my own pieces for this, so a practice garment really just HAD to be made.
Plus, I can use it as the final pattern moving forward, as I do plan to offer the costume in my shop.
There are a few tweaks to make for the customer before I start on the real fabric. The sleeves need to have less puff, the corset needs to be a wee bit shorter. Nothing too substantial.
So, it’s back to the studio with me, armed with a cup (or 2, or 3) of hot tea.
I can’t wait for this to be done, so I can post images of the final!
