Today I’m sharing one of my favorite tunic dresses from my shop.

I had *just* enough of this fabric to make this one dress.

I’d purchased the fabric eons ago as a remnant and could never quite figure out what to do with it.

Then, I was preparing for my runway show a few months ago.  I had hit that place, that place where I’d completely lost my vision and couldn’t figure out WHAT I was doing.

I started scrambling about, making random boho-style things, because that was the style I was really feeling at the time.

And, out popped this beauty.  I originally intended to include this in the show itself.  But that was in the haze of doubt and confusion.

As much as I love the tunic, it didn’t belong in THAT show.  And, so, it wasn’t included.

I’m a layering kind of girl, so I love it layered with a tank top, and over jeans.

Don’t get me wrong–it’s cute alone, too.

Friday Favorite

I thought I’d share a favorite find of mine on Friday’s.  A mini celebration in honor of the weekend.

My first favorite find is a pair of earrings that I ordered on etsy almost FIVE (!!!) years ago.  Oh my gosh, has it really been that long?  Wow.  Time flies.

Anyway, I give you the sea anemone earrings:

I wear these earrings almost every day–they are totally my go-to pair for my first holes (I have multiple ear piercings) and I just love them so much!  I am constantly getting compliments on them, and have sent many a person to the etsy shop I purchased them from.  I hope that translated into some sales for her, because her shop is so, so, so wonderful!

Myrna Loy 1934

I first saw Myrna Loy in “The Thin Man” (and if you haven’t seen that movie, you simply MUST–I’d have to say it’s my favorite movie of all time) and I was smitten from the moment she walked on screen.

You can’t take your eyes off of her when she’s on the screen.

For me, she is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen.

And she’s funny.  Comedy is, in my opionion, the hardest thing to play on screen or on stage (and, believe me, I’ve attempted it–and failed miserably).  You either have it, or you don’t.

Watching just the first 5 minutes of her on screen in “The Thin Man”, and you KNOW she has it.

Just a beautiful woman, and from what I’ve read about her, that extended to her personality as well.

TnT (Trapped In Time) Tuesday!  Featuring recent additions to my etsy shop, and a bit of info on the items.  Thought I’d try something new.

This is a beautiful red silk-blend floral brocade bustier that is a relatively recent addition to the shop (I’m still swamped with custom orders right now, so new items are on the back burner right now).  It’s really quite beautiful in person.  I do have a bit of a weakness for brocades, especially when it’s an Asian print.

I have two of these currently in the shop.  One with a bust of 30-33 inches and a waist of 26-29 inches.  The other with a bust of 36-39 inches and a waist of 32-35 inches.  (you can find them here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/150539161/bustier-corset-red-bustier-brocade?ref=v1_other_2  and here:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/150539349/bustier-corset-red-bustier-brocade?ref=v1_other_1)

Fully lined in black cotton twill for durability.  I sew flexible boning into the lining of all my bustiers.  These are much more comfortable to wear than, say, a metal boned corset.  You can wear one of these lovelies all day and not feel like you’re going to cough up your spleen.

They’re made to be worn as a shirt.  The look equally lovely alone or over a coordinating tank top (my favorite way to wear them).

Bustiers were the first items I began sewing when I decided to open up an etsy shop.  There’s just something about them that I love.  They’re both vintage and modern, and can be made from just about anything.  (I love making these out of vintage band t-shirts, and one of my favorites that I EVER made was from my own vintage MAD magazine tshirt.  It was SO, SO cool)

Mother Confessor

Wanted to share a couple of images by the amazingly talented Teresa Yeh Photography of my Kahlan, Mother Confessor gown.  I’m actually in the midst of creating two more of these right now for customers.  One is pretty much identical to that pictured, the other is altered a bit–detachable sleeves, and made in a raw cotton that is actually turning out quite lovely.

These were taken last year, and I just absolutely love them!

Apologies all around (once again).  Things have been so busy around here, my poor little corner of the web has been severely neglected.

Custom work has continued to roll in, it’s the time of year to get my vegetable garden in order, I’m working on a number of collaborative projects, and all the rest of life’s daily routine.
